UK Newsletter | August 2024

NEWSLETTER: It doesn’t seem that long ago since the FCA wheeled out their new four-year strategy, with being a ‘data-led regulator’ as a central element. Now over two years in, we take a look at what the FCA being data-led looks and feels like in practice, and where firms have been feeling the pinch.

The quality of CASS audits comes into sharp focus with the first ever FCA final notice issued to an audit firm. As the first of its kind in this space, and perhaps not the last – it’s a clear reminder to triple-check your auditor has the appropriate skills and approach in place. Another area worth reviewing is the regulator’s investigation of the treatment of Politically Exposed Persons, which has come together with a series of recommendations covering areas like definitions and scope, documentation, risk assessment, training, and communication.

Finally, as many of our clients operate across borders, the team look at regulatory requirements between the UK and US. It’s a great primer on some of the major considerations and recent developments for businesses looking to set up shop on either side of the Atlantic.

As always, do let us know if we can help and support.
